One of the best ways to bond with your youngsters and create memorable moments together is by baking cookies. It’s fun and rewarding — plus, you get a tasty treat at the end! 1. Sugardoodle Cookies

The girl scout version of this cookie may be great, but these sugardoodle cookies are definitely better, and your kiddo will agree with you. Here’s the full recipe.


  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda


1. Heat oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. Beat butter until it’s creamy, and then add the sugars and continue mixing until fluffy – then add the eggs and vanilla and mix them to form a uniform mixture.

3. Now, add the flour, salt and baking soda and mix until the dough is well combined.

4. Scoop the dough into small balls and place them 2 inches apart on your baking sheets.

5. Bake at 350°F for 12 minutes, making sure to rotate the pan halfway through. The cookies are ready when the tops turn golden brown.

6. Allow the cookies to cool for 30 minutes before serving.

2. Gingerbread Oatmeal Cookies

Everyone loves ginger cookies!  The butter and ground ginger give these cookies a soothing and delicious flavor. Enjoy!


  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup Biscoff creamy cookie spread
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats


1. Mix the flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and ginger in one bowl. In another bowl, using a hand mixer, beat butter, sugars and cream-cookie spread for 5-7 minutes, until you have a fluffy mixture. Stir in the dry mixture and the oats.

2. Cover in plastic wrap, and refrigerate the dough for 3 hours.

3. Heat the oven to 350° F.

4. Bring dough to room temperature, and using a medium scoop, form balls of dough and place evenly on 2 parchment-lined baking sheets.

5. Bake for 15-18 minutes.

3. Peanut Butter Cookies

This is probably the easiest cookie recipe on the list. Let’s get right to the recipe — no time to waste!


  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 large egg


  1. Heat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Put all your ingredients in one bowl and mix them completely using a spoon or a hand mixer.
  3. Scoop the dough, roll into small balls, and space them out evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Use a fork to slightly flatten each cookie.
  5. Bake for about 10 minutes, until golden brown.

4. Easy Lemon Cookies

Here’s another 3-ingredient cookie recipe you can make with your child.


  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup of canola oil
  • 25 ounces of lemon cake mix


1. Heat the oven to 350° F.

2. Put all three ingredients in one bowl and mix them thoroughly.

3. Scoop the dough, make tiny balls, and place them 2-inches apart on your baking sheet.

4. Bake for 12 minutes until the cookies turn light brown.

5. Cherry Cherry Cookies

The ingredient list for this recipe is very long, but don’t let it intimidate you! Baking these cookies is actually very easy.

  • 2 tablespoon 2% milk
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup shredded coconut (sweetened)
  • ½ cup of chopped cherries


  1. In a large bowl, add the butter and sugar and combine to get a fluffy mixture. Add vanilla, milk, and egg to the same bowl and combine them into a uniform mixture.
  2. In a different bowl, mix salt, baking soda, and flour. Add in the creamed mixture, and gradually stir in pecans, coconuts, and cherries.
  3. Drop teaspoons of the mixture onto the baking sheet, and bake at 375° F for 12 minutes.

6. Grandma’s Chocolate Drop Cookies

We can all agree that any recipe with the word “grandma” in it is always a big hit with kids! And these drop chocolate cookies aren’t any different.


  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup cocoa
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 ¾ cups flour
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 1-2 cups chocolate chips

Chocolate frosting 

  • ¼ cup butter (softened)
  • 2 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 ¼ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk, as needed


  1. Combine the egg, sugar, and shortening to make a uniform mixture. Stir in vanilla and buttermilk, and then add in the dry ingredients.
  2. Next, add the nuts and chocolate chips.
  3. Scoop the dough into balls and space cookies 2 inches apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake at 375° F for 10 minutes.
  5. Next, prepare the frosting: Cream butter and cheese together, and then add cocoa and vanilla and mix them well.
  6. Add the sugar until you achieve a smooth mixture, and add the milk as needed if it’s too dry.
  7. Spread the frosting on your cooled cookies, and enjoy!

7. Amish Sugar Cookies

These old-fashioned cookies really never go out of fashion. They’re easy to make, and they will melt in your mouth.


  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour


  1. Heat the oven to 375° F.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the sugars, butter, and oil. Next, beat eggs, followed by vanilla as you blend them in the mixture.
  3. Mix in the cream of tartar, baking soda, and flour, and add in the creamed mixture.
  4. Drop teaspoonfuls of the dough in ungreased baking sheets.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes, until lightly browned.

8. Edible Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅔ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 ½ sticks butter, at room temperature
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups almond flour
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips


  1. Cream both sugars and butter for 5 minutes until the mixture is fluffy, and then mix in the vanilla.
  2. Add the almond flour and salt and blend well.
  3. Mix in the chocolate chips.
  4. Scoop the cookie dough into small bowl, and dig in!


9. Basic Biscuits

In the United Kingdom, cookies are referred to as “biscuits,” and they’re great for breakfast. Here is a recipe for basic biscuits inspired by Mom Junction.


  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 5 ounces caster sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 ¾ cups + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour


1. Mix butter and caster sugar in a bowl.

2. Beat in vanilla and the egg yolk and mix the ingredients well.

3. Gently stir the flour into the mixture.

4. Scoop the dough into small portions and space them out evenly on 1 or 2 parchment-lined baking sheets (you can use a cookie cutter to get different shapes).

5. Bake at 350° F for 8-10 minutes.

10. Pumpkin Oat Cookies

This is another excellent recipe from Mom Junction that’s perfect for vegans.


  • 1 cup pumpkin purée (organic)
  • 2 packets stevia
  • 2 ½ cups oats


1. Heat the oven to 350°F.

2. Mix all the ingredients in one bowl. You can also add other ingredients such as raisins, vanilla extract, dried nuts, or anything else you fancy.

3. Make small balls with the dough.

4. Bake your cookies for 10 minutes until golden brown.

11. Cookie Monster Oreos

All kids love Oreos, so you can’t go wrong with this recipe.


  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips
  • blue food coloring
  • 12 Oreos
  • sanding sugar (optional)
  • 24 candy eyes
  • mini chocolate chips, for garnish


  1. Combine coconut oil, white chocolate chips, food coloring in one bowl and microwave the mixture until the chocolate melts.
  2. Toss each Oreo cookie in the blue mixture until fully coated, and place each coated cookie on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Sprinkle the cookies with sanding sugar and immediately stick candy eyes on top.
  4. Let the cookies set for 10 minutes before serving them.

12. Pencil Sugar Cookies

You might not be excited about writing utensils, but your child will LOVE this pencil sugar cookie idea from Delish.


  • 24 sugar wafer cookies
  • 1 ½ cups white chocolate chips
  • Mini dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoons coconut oil
  • Pink food coloring


1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Using a serrated knife, make two diagonal cuts on one side of each wafer cookie to create a sharp edge.

3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate in 30-second intervals, until melted, and then separate it into two bowls.

4. Add pink food coloring to one bowl of the melted chocolate, and stir well.

5. Dip the cookie flats in the pink chocolate, and then dip the pointed part into the white chocolate.

6. Place a mini dark chocolate chip at the pointy pencil part.

7. Allow them to sit for 15 minutes before serving.

13. Sunflower Seeds & Dates Cookies

This is another great vegan cookie recipe that your kid will love. It’s a great way to let your kid enjoy cookies and eat something healthy.


  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • water
  • 2 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sunflower seed butter


1. Soak the dates in water for five minutes, drain, and put them in a food processor.

2. Add the vanilla and the sunflower seed butter to the processor and blend the mixture.

3. Roll the dough into one-inch-thick balls and press them with your finger to flatten the dough into the shape of a cookie.

4. Bake the cookies at 325°F for 15 minutes.

14. Birthday Cake Cookies

This is another colorful and straightforward birthday cake cookie recipe that your kids will enjoy baking — and eating.

  • 1 box Funfetti cake mix
  • 2 large eggs

  • ½ (16.5-ounce) package refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough
  • ½ cup marshmallow crème
  • ½ cup chocolate fudge sauce


1. Heat the oven to 350°F.

2. Divide the dough into two and place them into separate sides of the baking sheet.

3. Flatten the cookies with a fork.

4. Bake the cookies for 10 minutes until they turn golden brown.

5. Spread marshmallow creme on the bottom side of one cookie and spread chocolate on the bottom of the other cookie.

6. Joint the two cookies like a sandwich, and place them back in the oven.

7. Bake for another 4 minutes.

8. Once the cookies cool, slice them and serve.
