How to make Zuke-O’-Lanterns
The carving of vegetables has been a tradition in many parts of the world for centuries. The first jack-o’-lanterns were carved out of gourds and beets — then later pumpkins.
Before you bake your Yummy Mummies, save some zucchini for carving mini jack-o’-lanterns like the ones pictured below. A grown-up can slice the zuke into rounds, then you can carefully carve eyes and mouths with the tip of a paring or picnic knife.
If carving Zucchini for is not enough for your kids we’ve got some more Halloween Pumpkin Carving Templates for you! You’ll find a Ghost, a black cat and a witches hat pattern for your kids to try.
