How can I get a cooking kit for free?

Each month we hold a #kidstirchallenge in which families can enter to win a Classic Cooking Kit, apron, or cookbook binder! For more info, go to kidstir.com/contests.

What is Kidstir?

Kidstir’s mission is to spark a love of food in kids. Our award-winning Cooking Kits offer a monthly hands-on food and cooking adventure for children ages 4 and up to learn basic and advanced cooking skills and encourage healthy eating while spending meaningful time with their families.

How do I contact Kidstir?

We offer Customer Care by email. If your questions are not answered here, please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team. We aim to respond to all outreach within 2 business days.

What is Kidstir’s phone number?

Do you have a referral program?

Yes, we do have a Refer-A-Friend program:  Invite your friends and they will receive $20 off the purchase of a new subscription (not combinable with other promos). You will receive a $20 credit for each friend who makes a subscription purchase using your referral link!  The Refer-A-Friend discount (for your friends) is only valid on new Subscriptions, however your credit can be used towards Subscriptions or items purchased individually from our Store. How can I give feedback?

Do perishable / food ingredients come in the box?

Food ingredients, wet or dry, do not come in our Happy Cooking Kits. We believe going to the market and selecting high quality, fresh ingredients is an important life skill.

A shopping list will be emailed when the box ships, so families can stock up on ingredients in advance. The shopping list will also be enclosed in each box.

What about food allergies, gluten intolerance, vegetarian, low carb, and other special diets?

Dietary modifications for vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, egg-free, and gluten-free diets for subscription kits are available here. We also encourage our community to share ideas with each other through our Facebook Group.

How do I report a problem with my box?

We want to make sure you have a great experience with Kidstir. If you are having a problem with one of our boxes, please let us know by sending an email to [email protected] or by using the Support button on the bottom right-hand portion of the page.

What are the recommended ages for Kidstir cooking kits?

Kids 4-14 love our cooking kits! Families enjoy learning and laughing together in the kitchen. We offer Grown-Up Notes in each recipe so parents can determine how best to support their children through the preparation and cooking process. Many children become more independent as they grow older and gain more skills and confidence.  

Managing your account

Can I get a discount?

A 6- and 12-month subscription will offer a reduced cost per box. Sometimes we also offer promo codes that can be found in our website banner. Sign up for our newsletter, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date on our latest discounts. You can also enter our monthly #kidstirchallenge for the chance to win a Classic Cooking Kit, apron, or cookbook binder. For more info, go to kidstir.com/contests.

How do I update my billing information?

You can update your billing information at any time from your My Account page. On your “Payment Methods” tab, you will be able to edit your Payment Details (credit card number). On your “Addresses” tab you will be able to edit your Billing Address.

How do I update my shipping address?

You can update your shipping address from your My Account page. To update a shipping address, click the “Subscriptions” tab, then “View” the subscription that needs to be edited. Shipping addresses must be updated by 15th of the month to take effect for the next month’s shipment. Addresses need to be updated individually for each order if you have multiple subscriptions. Please note that changing shipping & billing addresses through the “Addresses” tabs will update your default addresses for future purchases, but not for existing orders. For existing orders, you must follow the instructions above.

 

How do I renew a subscription?

Your subscriptions will automatically renew at the end of your current order so that your child will not miss any shipments.

Can I skip a month?

Our boxes are shipped every month. We do not offer customization of the shipping schedule at this time. There are no perishable items in the boxes so they may be stored and used at times convenient to families.

How do I avoid having duplicate / repeat boxes sent to my child?

For subscription members there will not be duplicates of previous kits sent out as part of the subscription. All monthly boxes are new and contain recipes, activities and tools created for that particular month. Previous kits and Classic kits are available for purchase in our Store for purchase outside of a subscription.

Why has my subscription been put on-hold or suspended?

How do I cancel my subscription?

We hate to see you go, but you can end a subscription anytime after the initial prepaid term has been completed. To cancel, log into your My Account page, choose the “Subscriptions” tab, click “View” next to the subscription that you’d like to cancel, then click “Cancel” before the 15th of the final month of your current term. Your account will show “Pending cancellation”. At the end of your prepaid term, it will show “Cancelled”. Your subscription will not auto-renew and no boxes will be shipped after the end of your current term.

Can I cancel my subscription after payment has been processed?

Per our cancellation policy, customers need to cancel their renewing / recurring subscriptions by the 15th of the final month of their current term.  We cannot stop a shipment after boxes have been processed. Ending a subscription does not affect your current order and any kits and items that have been purchased will be shipped out as scheduled.

If you cancel your subscription by reaching out to us between processing and shipment, that “processing” term will be the last that you receive as part of your subscription. You will no longer be billed for or shipped boxes beyond that term.

Gifting

Can I give Kidstir boxes as a gift?

Of course! Our boxes make wonderful gifts. Choose your preferred subscription term here. Then, provide the details such as the child’s name and shipping address.

Your subscription will auto-renew so that your gift recipient will not miss any shipments. If you’d like to limit your gift to the initial term of your subscription, log into your My Account page, choose the “Subscriptions” tab, click “View” next to the subscription that you’d like to cancel, then click “Cancel” before the 15th of the final month of your current term. Your account will show “Pending Cancellation.” At the end of your prepaid term, it will show “Cancelled.” Your subscription will not be auto-renewed, and no boxes will be shipped after the end of your current term. 

You can also send other individual Store items, such as Special Edition boxes, previous kits or cookbook binders – no subscription required! Don’t forget to share a special gift note. You can download and print it to give to the recipient.

I received or gifted Kidstir kits last year and want to continue. Will the kits be the same as in prior years?

Kidstir is happy to announce that starting in December 2019 all new kits have been developed and will begin shipping. Kits will not be repeated from this point forward. Past kits will be available for order in our Store.

What is your holiday delivery schedule?

Holiday orders must be placed by December 16, 9 p.m. Pacific Time for delivery before December 25.

Please note that Alaska, Hawaii, and APO/FPO addresses may take 2 weeks longer.

Once our holiday shipping deadline has passed, you can still give Kidstir boxes as a Christmas present.  For a Christmas day opening, please download and print our special gift note to tuck under the tree! Your little one will be thrilled.

When the first shipment is sent, the recipient will receive an email letting them know that their first box is on the way.

Can I add a gift message?

How can I add sibling tools to my subscription?

Can I extend my subscription term in order to receive savings per box?

Yes. You can extend your subscription by logging into your account and going to the Subscriptions tab, then clicking on “Change subscription.” Differences in pricing will be calculated at checkout. Be sure to update your plan before the 20th of the month for your new term to take effect the next month. If you upgrade after the 20th, your new subscription will begin the month after the next. 

Where do Kidstir subscriptions ship?

Subscription boxes ship anywhere in the United States, including Hawaii, Alaska, and APO, FPO, and DPO addresses for free. For single kits and items from our Store there is a shipping fee of $3.95 per kit.

When do boxes ship?

New subscriptions and one-off boxes and binders are typically processed and delivered within 2 weeks. If you choose to start your subscription in a future month, your first box will arrive in the first half of that month. Hawaii, Alaska and Military customers may experience longer transit times. A shipping confirmation email with tracking information will be sent to the recipient’s parent when a box ships out.

How much is shipping?

We offer free shipping for new subscribers of our Happy Cooking Kits within the US including APO and FPO addresses. Special Edition boxes, past kits and Binders from our Store costs $3.95 per item.

How does shipping work for multiple boxes?

Boxes ordered at the same time are typically shipped at the same time. Please note binders are shipped separately from boxes and may take a few days longer to arrive.

How does it work for siblings?

We have a few options to accommodate siblings:

  • Share a Subscription: Cooking and learning provide wonderful opportunities to work together as a team.
  • Sibling Add-On: We will send an extra set of tools, games, and gifts with each box for $10/month. Please note that kids will share one set of recipe/activity pages and one cookbook or guidebook binder with this option.
  • Order an Additional Subscription: Each child can delight in receiving his or her own box each month! Simply add two subscriptions to your cart before checking out. This option will allow each child to build his or her own cookbook.

How do I get my bonus magazine subscription?

We are excited to have such a great partnership with the top food and family magazines: All Recipes, Real Simple and Parents. See below for more information on each magazine and how the offer works.

For a limited time take advantage of this special offer. Included with your purchase of a Kidstir subscription (single kit purchases do not apply) is a two-year subscription toAll Recipes, Real Simple and Parents magazine. The issues are delivered straight to your door. Rest assured, you will never receive a bill for this magazine subscription.

How do I sign up for my bonus magazine subscription?

If you are joining or gifting a Kidstir subscription for the first time you will have the option to sign up for one of these great magazines at check out. Magazines are sent to the shipping address for the subscription.

What are the advantages of signing up for a subscription instead of buying one-off boxes?

Besides the ongoing excitement and anticipation of fun monthly boxes delivered to your door each month, there are other benefits to signing up for our subscription service:

  • When you sign up for an ongoing subscription, you’ll receive a discounted rate over the price of a one-off boxes!
  • In addition, active subscribers get additional benefits such as access to exclusive discount events, the ability to earn promotional credits, and early access to product launches.

Can I choose the month in which I want my subscription to begin?

Can I have the first box shipped to me so I can present it as a gift?

Enter the first box address as the shipping address at checkout. Once the first box ships you can login to My Account and update the shipping address for each subscription. You will know the first box of a subscription has shipped when you receive a “Welcome to Kidstir” email. Check your spam filter to make sure you are receiving our emails.

We encourage customers to use only one address for shipment as it is easy to forget to update shipping information. We are not able to ship multiple kits if the incorrect address has been provided.

Can I pick my box themes each month?

We do not have an option to select which themes are sent each month.  All boxes are designed and extensively tested for both boys and girls, and include projects, bonus inspiration and more! For a shared community experience, all subscribers receive the same box each month. If you’d like to pick and choose your boxes you can buy past and Special Edition kits in our StoreJoin our FB community and share ideas and inspiration related to this month’s box theme.

What happens at the end of my auto-renewing subscription?

At the completion of an auto-renewing subscription term (1-, 3-, 6-,12-), if you do not cancel your subscription before the 15th of the final month of your term, then your subscription will renew for the same number of months as the term that was originally purchased.

How many kits do I get and how often?

Kidstir is focused around building a 12 month cookbook. Whether you order a monthly, 3 month, 6 month or 12 month subscription you will only get 1 kit per month. The 3/6/12 month subscriptions are pre paid upfront and you are guaranteed to receive one kit per month for the number of months for which you have pre paid. All subscriptions will auto-renew on the 25th of the final month of the prepaid term in order to complete the 12 month cookbook.
