  • 4 Granny Smith apples
  • 1 cup brown sugar, divided
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
  • ¼ cup nuts (optional)

Step-by-step

Grown-up steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Peel and slice apples.
  2. Divide the sliced apples among 4 large pieces of foil. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, salt, ginger, and cinnamon. Coat the apples evenly with the sugar mix, then add the melted butter and nuts.
  3. Seal the foil packets tightly and place on a sheet pan. Bake for 20 minutes or until apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
