Spring Chicks
Hands-on time:
20 minutes
Start-to-eat time:
35 minutes
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
Kids kitchen skills:
- hard boiling eggs
Tools:
- small saucepan
Step-by-step
- Boil the eggs - Place 4 eggs in a small saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring the water to a boil, then turn off the heat. Put the lid on the saucepan and let the eggs sit in the hot water for 12 minutes. Peel the eggs under running cold water.
- Make a friendly face - Slice the boiled eggs and place them on a plate or cutting board. Add a triangle nose (cut from an orange pepper) to each face. Add chive eyes and hair, too.
- Get creative with more egg animals - Once you've made the chicks, try making other animal faces. Use olives or carrot rounds for eyes, chives for whiskers and tails, and radishes and peppers for ears. Now say hello to your egg friends!
