Kitchen Gift for Dad
This Father’s Day, give dear old dad a barbecue rub. Our not-too-spicy recipe is full of flavor from paprika, chili powder, garlic, and more. Just mix it up and store it in a jar with a homemade label. Have a steak on hand and grill it for dinner for the world’s best dad!
Here are the tools kids will learn to use in this grilling recipe:
- bowl
- measuring cups & spoons
- jar
- sticker label
Ingredients include brown sugar, paprika, ground black pepper, salt, chili powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper (optional) and a 10-ounce strip or rib eye steak. Now place the steak on a plate, spoon on the spices in the mix and rub into the meat with the back side of the spoon. Repeat on the other side.
Hands-on time is only 5 minutes for this tasty barbecue rub – and just 25 minutes until kids get to taste that bbq steak they helped to make!
Popcorn for Pop!
Celebrate dad with a family movie night. Pop in his favorite flick and pop up some microwave Parmesan Popcorn! All you need is a paper bag, popcorn kernels, a little olive oil, and Parmesan cheese. Now settle in for movie night!
Tools kids will learn include a microwave, a paper bag and measuring spoons. Ingredients are popcorn kernels, olive oil, fresh grated Parmesan cheese and salt. A grown-up can help kids to microwave the popcorn for 2 to 3 minutes or until the popping sounds almost stop.
Taste the popcorn. What do you think? If it needs more salt or cheese, add it to the bag and shake it up.
